Where does the name 'Carl Wesley' come from?
Most designers use their first and last names to name their clothing line, but I didn't really like the way 'Carl Brazel' sounded for my clothing label. My partner suggested I use my first and middle name (Carl Wesley) instead. It had a nice ring to it and it stuck.
What is your background?
I grew up in a small farm town in downstate Illinois. I've been sewing since I was five years old and designing clothes since I was a teenager. I was inspired to start making clothes after seeing Project Runway (p.s. season four winner Christian Siriano is still my favorite designer!). I am mostly self taught as a fashion designer and seamstress, but I have some college coursework in patternmaking and garment construction. Believe it or not, my undergraduate degree is actually in social work! Currently, I live in the Chicago suburbs with my partner. I have a sewing studio in my home where I spend most of my time.
Where is the clothing produced?
Currently, I cut and sew most of the pieces on demand at my home in the Chicago suburbs. Domestic manufacturing is very important to me, so as my brand grows, I intend to have every piece cut and sewn in the USA, and in the Midwest as much as possible.
Where is Carl Wesley sold?
My line is sold exclusively online at this website and at CarlWesley.Etsy.com. All items ship directly from me or the production companies I hire. My focus is to have a web-based, direct-to-consumer business. This means great quality garments and the best possible price for you!
Do you take custom orders?
Yes! Please contact me via email me at Wes@CarlWesley.com, or message me on Instagram or Facebook. Please note: custom orders are often more expensive than my ready-to-wear collection because of the additional pattern work or special materials required.
How does shipping work?
I ship all items worldwide with First Class service from the United States Postal Service. Domestic orders are usually delivered within 3 business days of shipping. International orders are delivered within 7 to 21 business days. I charge a flat rate of $4 for domestic shipping and $20 for international shipping. All orders $35 and over ship free to U.S. addresses. You may receive separate shipments from your order; some items ship direct from my production companies and some ship directly from my studio.
How long does it take to produce my order?
Most orders are cut and sewn in about 3 - 5 days (often less). However, please allow up to 2 weeks lead time depending on current order volume. Your item is cut and sewn special just for you! It's worth the wait, I promise!
What is your return policy?
I allow returns with a full refund for any reason on ready-to-wear items. Please contact me within 7 days of order receipt at Wes@CarlWesley.com. Item must be shipped back to me within 14 days of order receipt. Item must be in resellable condition and refunds will be granted after inspection. You are responsible for paying the return shipping. Refunds for custom orders will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
