**Update 6/20/20: I'm extending the donations to the Trevor Project for all orders with a Rainbow Pride item through the end of the month.**
As part of Pride month I wanted to help raise money for a cause that's important to me.
Now through June 26 I will be helping raise money for the Trevor Project, a non profit organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. I will be donating $5 from each order containing a Rainbow Pride underwear.
The mission of the Trevor Project resonates close to home. I came out as gay when I was 13 and my teen years were the darkest of my life. I grew up in a small farm town in downstate Illinois where I was the token gay kid. I didn't know anyone else like me and I didn't have anyone I could talk to about was I feeling. I was interested in sewing and Project Runway which didn't really help me fit in with my peers who played sports and drove big pick up trucks. I felt alone and dealt with depression during those years and considered taking my own life on several occasions.
Fortunately, awareness of LGBTQ issues and tolerance of queer people has increased a lot in recent years, but growing up gay is still hard when combined with the other challenges of youth.
If you're not interested in any of my products please consider donating directly to the Trevor Project. I included buttons below where you can donate and read more about the organization.
After June 26 I'll send out an update to let you know how much was raised for the Trevor Project. If you make a direct donation, send me an email at Wes@CarlWesley.com and let me know so I can include it in the total we raised.
Thanks for supporting this organization! ...and thank you for supporting me as a gay business owner and fashion designer.
